Sonomatic move into new flagship Aberdeen base

Sonomatic’s Aberdeen team have moved into the company’s new office and workshop premises within Scottish Enterprise’s Bridge of Don facility.

They took over the flagship base on 24th September,  in a move which coincided with four new technical staff joining the company. Two are based in Aberdeen, the other two in Warrington.

General manager John Lilley said: “The move allows us to offer an even better service to our Aberdeen clients, as we can now offer a wider range of resources and mobilise for North Sea work locally rather having to organise from Warrington.”

He added: We’re in the most prestigious location, right on the end of a block with an impressive conference room, looking out to sea.”

David Littlejohn, director of industries and infrastructure for Scottish Enterprise, said: “As a long-standing occupier of business premises on the Energy Park, Scottish Enterprise welcomes Sonomatic’s decision to expand its operations in our new state-of-the art research and development facility.”

Mr Lilley said that Sonomatic had been able to recruit new staff — with more in the pipeline — because the company’s services were in high demand, despite the tough economic climate.

“When operators are looking for ways to cut costs, they tend to look at reducing capital investment projects and because new plant is not coming on line, the focus inevitably switches to making what they already have run harder and last longer. And that’s where we come in, advising them on how to achieve this,” he said.

Although Sonomatic’s techniques are more costly to apply upfront than conventional testing, this is outweighed by the long-term benefits, he said. “Operators find they can extend the life of their plant, and they can run for longer periods between inspections because they have better data and higher confidence.”
