Liquid Particle Inspection
This is a long established “surface method” for detecting cracks in stainless and carbon steel. Commonly known as Dye Penetrant Inspection it is applied to enhance the visual inspection process. The limits are specific to material properties such as non-porous, temperature variations and surface conditions.
Major limitations are:
- All coatings require to be removed prior to inspection using Liquid Penetrant.
- Only surface breaking defects may be detected.
