Eddy Current
In the oil & gas sector it is common to use eddy-current techniques to inspect non-ferrous components. Examples of this include heat exchanger tubes and Cu/Ni alloys. Using the ability of eddy-currents to pass through defined thicknesses of non-conductive coatings, it is possible to detect surface breaking imperfections. This is a major advantage over other common surface detection methods, as the coatings do not have to be removed and reinstated.
