The latest event organised by Young Chamber Connections and sponsored by Aberdeen Inspection technologies company Sonomatic has been hailed a great success by organisers and participants alike.

A group of 44 businessmen and women took part in the team-building challenge - the third in a series of planned events - on Friday, June 29, at Pittodrie House Hotel.

Participants enjoyed an action-packed afternoon that consisted of a range of activities aimed at improving working relationships in a fun and informal way.

Attendees were able to pit their wits and skills against each other in various activities such as hoist the flag, a sack race and blind driving!

The event was designed so that those taking part could draw on key workplace skills such as communication, problem solving, time management and delegation, but the fun-factor involved ensured everyone left with a smile on their face.

This was the first Chamber event to be sponsored by Sonomatic and they were delighted with the outcome. Zach McCann Regional Manager with Sonomatic said

“We are pleased to be associated with Young Chamber Connections. Events like this inspire young business people to work together and network with each other. A valuable lesson from the day would have been learning the value of team work”

Richard Tinto, Director of Tinto Architecture Ltd, and a member of the Young Chamber Connections steering group, was delighted the event turned out to be such a success.

He said: “It really was a fantastic day. All our events so far have been extremely valuable but I’ve got to say this was our best yet. The sun came out and everyone had a great time. Everyone involved had the opportunity to network, learn and team–bond whilst having a great laugh in the process.”

Chris Rae, of Internet For Business, who attended the event, also found it to be great fun and said it had been well worthwhile.

He said: “Following on from the Young Chamber’s Ice Breaker evening, my colleagues and I had a really enjoyable and productive afternoon. The event was very well run with good fun thrown into the bargain. It was a great chance to do some networking and the various tasks certainly showed the benefits of working together. It was great to meet new contacts as well as seeing some familiar faces.”

The Young Chamber Connections is a series of events organised by young professionals and entrepreneurs in association with Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce. The scheme is aimed at giving delegates the opportunity to network with like-minded business people.

Future events planned for 2007 by the Young Chamber Connections steering group will include further networking opportunities, more guest speakers and a themed dinner dance/ceilidh.
