Expert Alliance

 An innovative new alliance has been launched, offering a faster and more efficient approach to the inspection and assessment of defects on subsea pipelines and topsides pressure systems for the upstream oil and gas industry.

The Expert Alliance brings together industry leaders Atkins, Innospection, Proserv and Sonomatic, offering a single point of access to a broad range of services required in subsea inspection and maintenance.

The new partnership will be of significant benefit to efforts to ensure the integrity of maturing assets. It sees partners working co-operatively on projects from the outset, ensuring that processes such as pre-inspection cleaning, screening, inspections, and engineering analysis can be carried out more efficiently and effectively.

Spokesman for Expert Alliance, Ramsay Fraser of Atkins said: “Inspection and assessment of defects requires the operator to deal with several sub-contractors to put a range of necessary services in place. The creation of Expert Alliance will make this process much more efficient as those services can be delivered through a single interface.”

He said the idea for an expert alliance grew from the realisation that the companies regularly worked on the same projects for the same clients. The alliance offers clients the benefit of much easier and more cost-effective access to combined services.

Dr Fraser added: “This single interface approach brings numerous benefits to the client, such as access to a global network of facilities and services and experienced project management across the range of services.

“The client will have a single point of contact for contract issues, simplifying the supply chain, reducing time spent on sub-contract management and reducing duplicated work and resources. It will also lead to consistently high QHSE standards and faster solutions using the best technology.

“In effect, the Expert Alliance provides customers with a fast, safe, environmentally-friendly and financially-sound package that ensures asset integrity is assured while production levels are not compromised.”

Each partner provides complementary services and skills, which ensure effective co-operation, with no conflict of interest.

Proserv Offshore’s key offering within the partnership is its advanced cleaning/coating removal and cold cutting technologies. The company can prepare any surface topside or subsea for asset integrity inspection.

Sonomatic is a leader in the field of ultrasonic inspection design, development and application. Its capabilities for the development of software, equipment, scanners and bespoke inspection approaches are widely recognised. The company is committed to providing proactive inspection solutions that enable clients to manage the integrity and safety of maturing assets.

Innospection has successfully delivered advanced non-destructive testing solutions to the oil and gas industry worldwide for ten years.
