Rapid Screening and characterisation of internal corrosion
NII for certain pressure vessels sometimes includes a requirement for high coverage using techniques with a high probability of detection and good accuracy. This results in long inspection times, and high costs, using generally available inspection techniques. Sonomatic has worked with a leading oil industry client on the development of TOFD Screening. This technique allows rapid screening of pressure vessels and piping and, crucially, this is achieved while delivering a high probability of detection for low level corrosion and very accurate wall thickness measurements.
Sonomatic has developed the technique for rapid deployment in the field, both topsides and subsea. Our service includes detailed analysis of the data obtained and provision of corrosion maps based on automated analysis of the data.
Applications for TOFD screening are growing in response to the market need inspections with enhanced capability and rapid coverage.
