Horizontal pressure vessels are typically mounted on saddle supports. Direct access for inspection of the internal and external condition of the vessel body is not possible under these supports. Alternative methods of inspection are therefore necessary. Sonomatic provides a range of medium range techniques for this application. The techniques include.

Multiskip and CHIME are typically used in combination for inspection of thicker material (typically 10 mm and above). SH-EMAT’s are preferred for inspection of thinner wall vessels (with applicability to vessels with wall thickness less than 15 mm).
